Horoscopes for the Week of Aug. 17th – 23rd

(mosaic art – David Chidgey)

Tomorrow, very early in the morning if you live in the U.S., a full Moon in Aquarius is culminating.  Some sources are labeling this an eclipse but it’s not designated as one in the “New American Ephemeris” so I’m not treating it as one. Still it’s a powerful one.  This week’s horoscopes will address it’s probable influence for each sign.

Chiron’s inconjuncting the Sun, squaring Phollus, and opposing Jupiter at the moment.  This implies a critical need to “bridge a spiritual gap.”  There may be the feeling that inwardly you’re “on the edge” – dealing with the maximum of what you can effectively deal with.

Saturn continues to ask you to clarify your beliefs – your own personal religion – to decide if you believe what you’re actually telling yourself.  If you were trained to recite prayers you might remember disengaging your brain while reciting them.  They were memorized and automatic and you didn’t have to think about what you were saying. Saturn is telegraphing the idea that operating on “automatic” where your personal beliefs are concerned, is a risky practice you probably can’t afford.

It’s time to become acutely aware of  what you actually believe.   Beliefs are passed down from generation to generation.  We inherit them and often they conflict with the personal wisdom we’ve accumulated through our own life experience. But often we don’t take the time to update, revise, and individualize our beliefs to align with our own accumulated wisdom.  We continue to believe what we were taught to believe, having more faith in another’s conclusions than our own.   We underestimate what hard life experience has taught us. A gap or schism develops that separates us from ourselves.  That gap feeds fear and insecurity. Inwardly it feels like a bleak, desolate, unforgiving space. And eventually our outer life reflects that.

It is through the development of a personal belief system that aligns with our own accumulated wisdom that we close the gap and design a life we’re proud to call our own.

On Monday, August 22nd  the Sun moves on from the sign of dramatically self-expressive Leo into the sign of practical, hard-working, guilt-ridden, highly efficient Virgo. Virgo is the “clean-up crew” after the party Leo has thrown.  Time to address something “not particularly fun” after putting practicalities on hold for awhile. Maybe it’s time to “dial back” what hasn’t been good for your physical, emotional, spiritual, or financial health. This is the time when kids (and adults) return to school and a more structured schedule. You might find yourself doing the same.

On a “macro-scale” the Virgo season is when we take the time to carefully integrate what’s been left hanging. If you’ve had life experiences that have given you more confidence in your ability to operate as an authority (maybe over yourself) it’s time to make room for that. If you’ve suffered through loss, time to take the time to grieve until you’re done – before moving on in an incomplete, still wounded, state.

If your life status has changed, time to redefine yourself to yourself, to admit that your old beliefs no longer apply, or that your current life requires you to update your emotional framework. A couple eclipses in September will make this easier. Any efforts you make are abundantly supported by the integrating nature of Virgo energy.

Essentially for the next month you will be preparing to “take your show on the road” and  to offer your new, improved, healthier, more integrated self, to the world. The Virgo season allows you to put the “icing on the cake” – the cake being you. 🙂

It’s worth noting that as the Sun transits into Virgo, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and the North Node are already there. Saturn and Neptune are strategically placed to actively challenge Virgo’s highest expression. At this time there is a rare concentration of Virgo power influencing the world.  That represents a pivotal test of your ability to channel it effectively.

Thanks for reading as always,

Holly

ARIES (March 21-April 21)
Aries is being given the opportunity (maybe multiple opportunities) to present his most unusual, socially groundbreaking, and genius offerings to the world. Whether or not those are accepted is beside the point. This may feel like a very satisfying time when you step up and courageously to offer the world what only you can offer. Aries doesn’t like to sit on the sidelines. They want to be in the game. And now “the game” seems be asking for your full participation. The team needs you. So, as impatient as you are, play by the rules, jump through the hoops you need to jump through, fill out the applications meticulously, present yourself as an authority, but don’t water-down your ideas or yourself. Center yourself in your purpose. You’re moving into a bigger, maybe foreign arena, as the world catches up. Expect you’ll be welcomed with open arms as an abundance inspiration continues to nourish you.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21)
Taurus may feel the fullness of their potential this week, lots of support, and more confidence in their ability to relate to society as an expert – though not the usual “run-of-the-mill” expert society has always seemed to crave. Something more enlightened is being triggered within you. As traditional as Taurus can be, they are actually the authorities when it comes to triggering another’s most distinctive attributes – those attributes that make them special, ingenious, soul-connected, and resilient in the face of life’s demands. At the moment, the “teacher within” is being transformed, preparing you to step up where you once used to hide, shun the limelight, or share the stage with too many distracting forces. Often it’s hard to recognize when a mysterious magic within a broader sphere transforms you from a novice and perpetual learner into a wisdom-filled teacher. It may be time to recognize and embrace that as you experiment with a different kind of social role.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
Gemini’s focus changes in very fundamental, all-encompassing ways this week. A nesting-urge may be highlighted as you purify and integrate. You may want to clean your house, to be prepared for every eventuality, to practice methods that are new to you, to master a nurturing, comforting role, to fortify your health, and to prepare to show off a creation or new design within the most personal, emotionally fulfilling realms of your life. This is a time when you connect with the past, enhance your security, and make your home more functional. At this time of year, every year, this is what you do. But because there are so many planets in Virgo in your 4th house you may be doing it “on steroids” this year. Essentially you’re enhancing a foundation that can ensure the viability of an unusual and unprecedented new beginning – something that can support and protect vulnerability, sensitivity, weakness, spiritual life, or liminal state of transition. You’re preparing to support a new beginning – and you’re leaving “no stone left unturned” as you proceed.

CANCER (June 21-July 21)
This week the sensitive/sensual/sexual aspects of your being are being emotionally engaged. Through your physical being you have the opportunity to integrate and heal your emotions and your mind. All of “you” can be on the same page for a change through pleasurable indulgence. There’s an art to the beneficial practice of self-indulgence. This week you might be inspired to practice and develop your own version of what that is. Through pleasurable pursuits you have the opportunity to significantly improve your overall health and sense of well-being. The side-effects you may notice will be a weakening of obsessive/compulsive tendencies and a more confident, authentic, and secure approach to the world. Additionally a deliberate change in appearance that seems to embody more or your unique attributes, a more comfortable role within your primary relationships, and a more consistent direct expression of courage and forthrightness can be expected.

LEO (July 21-Aug 21)
Leo may be in the process of experimenting with unique approaches to many different demands, from many different people, in many different situations. Experimenting with different kinds of responses toward others is a way of learning what’s effective and what you’re emotionally comfortable with. For you there is no formula within relationships because you tend to attract those who diverge significantly from “the norm.” On a fairly routine basis you encounter rebels, geniuses, quirky personalities, those opposed to rules, and those angered by any perception of confinement or lack of independence. These are actually qualities within you that need to be brought to the next level. The universe has apparently decided that the best way to bring this to your attention is to put you at the mercy of those who go their own way and do their own unpredictable things despite your agenda or emotional needs. Ask yourself if you ever rebel in immature ways when you feel confined, bossed around, or powerless. Everything changes when you change.

VIRGO (August 21-September 21)

This week Virgo’s emotions are triggered by life events and responsibilities that mirror the condition of their emotional and spiritual health. If what you experience is positive and life-enhancing congratulations. You’re apparently doing what it takes to nourish and care for your inner workings. If what you experience is uncomfortable this is an opportunity to question your beliefs about how obligated you feel to follow the example of your early role-models. It may be time to rebel against habits you formed before you could rationally examine the wisdom of mimicking another’s approach to life – someone you loved and depended upon probably. This week is a great time to immerse yourself in your imagination so that you can imagine being someone else – someone more authentic, more fun, and more useful to manifesting the kind of life you would love. If you’re hiding, downplaying, or sacrificing your brilliance, your loves, or your creativity, which one of your early influences did that? This week it’s time to permanently disrupt that cycle.

LIBRA (September 21-October 21)

The next month represents the end of an ending for you. If all has gone well this year you have become more deeply acquainted with your inner workings – the vulnerable parts of yourself, the hidden personal treasures you carry, and the mysterious other-wordly connections you can access. You may have cultivated psychic awareness or hidden artistic ability. You may have actively improved your emotional and spiritual health by manipulating your health routines and improving your work environment – or your relationship with co-workers. Essentially you are in the final stages of integrating the wisdom you’ve accumulated over the past 12 years. You’re on the cusp of a new beginning that may feel deeply satisfying. Now is your chance to contribute to the world something deeply personal – something that’s taken years of experience, blood, sweat, and tears, to refine and develop. It’s a masterpiece born of the pattern of choices you’ve made throughout your life. The world is about to be much richer for the contribution you’re now ready to make.

SCORPIO (October 21 – November 21)
Even more than most, Scorpio must own their own belief system. They cannot outsource this realm of life without diminishing the power they need to direct their own life. If you feel like you’ve been thrown around a bit, unable in the past to “adjust your sails” to catch the wind and gain the momentum you need, it’s time to examine your beliefs about money and your current priorities. Where you spend your money reveals what you value. It’s time to come to terms with some stark realities regarding your home, family, roots, and the things that provide you with a sense of security. It is likely that you will have to take seriously the option of addressing practicalities in a very unusual way – your own way. It is inevitable that you will have to make your life your own. It is also inevitable that this will involve greater receptivity and maybe better access to the support and love of cherished friends.

SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 21)
Sagittarius may find themselves in the midst of a mental struggle that involves personal beliefs they’re not fully aware of. A Sagittarian’s sense of identity revolves around their beliefs, opinions, and basic philosophy of life. Personal beliefs are a big consideration now as you attempt to find a cure for what ails you. You may be having trouble making decisions, having a hard time accepting truths, or unconsciously rebelling against what you need. The impending full Moon is bringing current mental dilemmas to your attention. Mars impending conjunction with Saturn is further forcing a resolution. It appears there are some practically effective remedies you must embrace. You may need to step more fully into your role as the final authority over your life while releasing unnecessary pride. Observe how you assert authority over others, recommend that they listen to their inner voice of wisdom, insist that that they believe in themselves, take charge of their health, etc. Listen to what it is you teach, apply it to yourself and, in the process, make yourself more useful to yourself.

CAPRICORN (December 21-January 21)
What’s most important for a Capricorn this week is the realization that they can manifest what they want and need by doing the opposite of what would seem practically effective. If you need to stop worrying, for example, give yourself full permission to indulge your worries on a regular basis. In fact, set up a schedule of times when you have to worry and fret even if you don’t feel like it. If you need more money, be more generous. If you want others to get with your program, spend more energy understanding their program and cooperate with it to the extent that you can. If you’re competitive and resent another outperforming you, imagine a scenario where you over-react to your own resentful feelings and allow yourself to say (or scream) exactly what you feel. Imagine it until you make yourself laugh or the resentment subsides. What you resist persists. Indulge what you don’t want. Feed it and over feed it until it’s had enough and simply walks away. It’s an essential strategy for you from now until December of 2017.

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 21)
Aquarius may be increasingly aware of the fact that they would like to play a different kind of role within the realm of their most important relationships. Communication may be stifling and the urge for some kind of a breakthrough may be intensifying. A different kind of routine, something foreign, and adventurous may be what’s needed to crack the code that unlocks new, more satisfying relationship possibilities. There is underlying relationship tension that has been simmering for awhile. You would like to enable a scenario that diverges from what you fear might eventually take place. The lid will, at some point, be blown off if nothing changes. But there’s time to initiate a smart strategy to avoid what is essentially unnecessary. Between now and December of 2017 be meticulously honest with yourself and others about what you can and cannot tolerate. The upcoming September eclipses may set in motion some new flexibility.

PISCES (February 21-March 21)
Pisces clearly benefits from the impending full Moon in Aquarius. It highlights and makes more accessible a world in which they love to reside – the mysterious, hidden, dark, comforting, protective, cocoon that encourages them to come to life emotionally. It’s a place where they can be alone with their imagination, their transcendent connections, the aliens, geniuses, and the eccentric rebels that inhabit this secret space. It’s the place where you feel like you belong because it’s so interesting and stimulating and weird. It’s the place where they feel a friendly kind of love and support that comes and goes n its own terms. So how will you make the best use of your time there? What do you need? Who do you need to forgive? What specific kind of help do you require. What do you know you cannot do on your own? There is great power in asking for help – especially now. Expect that you will be given exactly what you need.
