I’ve been under the weather for a couple days. Feeling much better but I will be abbreviating this week’s horoscopes. Sometimes less is more. In this case, I hope that’s true.
Astrologically things are pretty stable. No planets are changing signs, going direct, or newly retrograding this week. But next week the Sun moves from capricorn into the sign of Aquarius and that changes things.
Mercury continues in retrograde motion through January 25th. Mercury retrogrades for three weeks three times a year. But there are stations and shadow phases that extend its influence over a longer period. For me, and I suspect most, Mercury retrograde is never the major inconvenience or disaster it’s often portrayed to be.
Technically Mercury is retrograding for 180 days this year. It’s hard to be “on guard” for half the year. For me, I’m usually forced to be more clear about what I’m communicating, more accurate, more concise, and more timely. Often I have to go back and explain what I meant, send several extra e-mails, and deal with computer issues I’ve been putting off for awhile. This time I guess I had the flu for a couple days which set me back. In retrospect it never really seems that bad.
I learn some things about myself during Mercury retrograde but it’s not nearly the challenge of Saturn on my Moon, for example…or Pluto conjuncting an angle or personal planet. Just thought I would inject that perspective for those who anticipate the worst and continue to find that it never really materializes.
Have a wonderful week and as always, thanks for reading.

ARIES (March 21-April 21)
Aries has been especially cautious about protecting their freedom to assert themselves without restraint for quite awhile now. And it may have all worked to their benefit in terms of achieving what they wanted to achieve. But you may have taken this as far as it can go. Soon you face the challenge of figuring out how to cooperate with friends, valued alliances, groups, and maybe the masses in general. This is a tricky proposition for you, but it seems that you have the skills to move people into the future. It would be a shame to waste that on continuing to protect your own personal freedom at the expense of all else. You have nothing left to prove in that regard. If you see an opportunity to engage with a group – a group in need of the kind of person you are, it’s time to go for it, even if it requires some compromise that may initially feel confining.
TAURUS (April 21-May 21)
Complicated relationships may be rocking your world these days, interfering with trust and security, leaving you worried about future prospects. Working harder may seem like the right thing to do, but actually the astrological omens are attempting to move you in a different direction. Now is the time to lighten up, to find the old creative projects you never finished, to play, and to engage in the kind of things that give you the most joy. It seems to be the best way to move yourself forward. Life is joyful and you do not have to withhold that from yourself, regardless of what your mind may be telling you. In fact the most inefficient thing you can do at the moment is to turn away the muse who works best when you’re relaxing, not working. She is the bringer of good fortune, ease, and a return to your most natural and powerful self.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
When you think about solidifying a relationship or working within a partnership to balance give and take, effort and reward, and the overall satisfaction of the whole proposition, it may be time to stop following the rules. Your best contribution is different, crazy from staid perspectives, weird within traditional realms, and wildly rebellious in the opinion of those with more cautious points of view. You do it differently and it’s time to not only accept that but to dive in head first, with the full force of your eccentric self, to make it all work. I’m not saying there won’t be resistance. I’m saying that being you, without apology, is the best way to make the needed breakthroughs. The alternatives are basically time-wasters and attempts to deny your power.
CANCER (June 21-July 21)
It is likely that you have done some crazy, regrettable things in the past, and that those memories may be coming back to you now in wildly, vivid, technicolor. As you review (during this Mercury retrograde period) what you may now wish had never happened, it may be time to place previous actions under a different kind of light – one that reveals their true worth and value. Maybe you could experiment with the concept of “no regrets” and embracing your past because it was uniquely your own. Your path, including the crooked, crazy detours, and dark stopovers, may have given you the experiences you needed to be extra compassionate and kind. If you are artistic, most likely you can thank your “not so squeaky clean past” for your ability to infuse the world with truth and beauty.
LEO (July 21-Aug 21)
I think I have been emphasizing the value of humility for Leo’s over the past couple weeks, but here we go again. It doesn’t have to feel fakey. Ultimately you’re doing it to get what you want. Understood. But that’s ok. We all have our strategies. This just happens to be an especially effective one for you these days. You stand to gain from a self-effacing approach. Praising another person’s strengths while totally leaving off the part about how you could have done it even better, is smart. Revealing some of your past mistakes, placing yourself in an unassuming light, and downplaying narcissistic attitudes can put you in a position of strength. Asking a trusted friend or partner to let you know when you’re back-sliding may be wise. Doing this all willingly diminishes the chances of the world having to come down hard on you to make it happen. If it already has, this is a good way to minimize the damage.
VIRGO (August 21-September 21)
If there was ever a time when you knew deep within what was right for you, it’s now. Virgo stands to gain from being themselves at the moment, regardless of other things normally taken into consideration. As Mercury retrogrades and you reconsider the most responsible thing to do, consider that it may be, for a change, what you most want to do. Now is the time to shut out other voices and opinions, to sit quietly by yourself, and to know what it is that brings you the most deeply satisfying kind of joy. It may be hard to anticipate how this will move you into the next right stage of your journey. But according to current astrological omens, it’s hard, at the moment, to go wrong with a “please yourself” kind of approach.
LIBRA (September 21-October 21)
Ceres, the asteroid of nourishment, and Venus the planet of love collude this week to present Libra with the gift of creative self-expression. Love seems to be the central theme that unblocks what has been blocked for awhile. Don’t be surprised if things improve for your lover and/or for your children. But the most important thing is that they improve you in your role as a lover. You’re more capable than ever of expressing love in the most sensual, kind, and stimulating ways. This brings you back home to yourself. It is your most natural way of being and if you forgot that this week will serve as a reminder. To the extent that you can dive into the “lovers role” your ability to be abundantly creative will be unleashed. It’s a win/win from every direction that matters.
SCORPIO (October 21 – November 21)
The bunch up of Capricorn planets in your 3rd solar house is making your communication especially concise, to the point, well-thought-out, and truthful, no matter how much it hurts. It is becoming increasingly more difficult for others to miss the point, misunderstand or ignore the nature of what you are saying. This may change things significantly in a very positive direction for you – if your ego stays in check. It will be tempting to say “I told you so” or “you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble by listening to me in the first place.” It isn’t much publicized how egotistical a Scorpio can be, but it is a tendency. In the past you may have communicated in ways that encouraged others to dismiss you. But this week that’s highly unlikely.
SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 21)
There is currently a bunch up of Capricorn planets in your 2nd solar house of money-making. Capricorn emphasizes planning, strategizing, self-discipline, and doing the work needed to achieve something you want. If your finances feel pinched it’s time to work with the planets to define something new and smart that can be done to stop the bleeding… or to give you the abundance you need. The planets are working to unleash you from financial restrictions. If you work with them, the flow is stronger and potentially more abundant. So do what you need to do to reign yourself in and watch things change for the better.
CAPRICORN (December 21-January 21)
This week Capricorns may find themselves being extra “Capricornish” – being extra cautious, working extra hard, anticipating every possible outcome and being prepared for it, having little faith that anything will work out if all the “i’s” aren’t dotted and the “t’s” crossed. This can be explained astrologically by a “bunch up” of Capricorn planets in your first solar house defining your style and approach to life. This week you could be taking it too far, though. An occasional leap of faith is necessary sometimes to move you closer to the kind of achievement you’re shooting for. Consider that possibility as you navigate through the week.
AQUARIUS (January 21-February 21)
Aquarians may be feeling out of control of their life in some way, as though their fate is up in the air and they just have to wait and see how it all shakes out. Slow dissolutions are melding with new beginnings in ways that make your future a blur and an act of faith at the moment. What you have given up as lost, though, may not be. I may be speaking in general terms, but more specifically, it looks like some kind of relationship evolvement. What you thought could never work out may be revived in the form of a type of cooperation you cannot yet imagine. As always, but especially now, Aquarians are wise to expect the unexpected.
PISCES (February 21-March 21)This week an element of good fortune comes your way. Or maybe you’ve already received some good news that opens the doors to the kind of future you’ve always dreamed of. But work and self-discipline is required to push it all past the finish line. Now the rubber hits the road. You’re on your way, but there may be connections to be made, communication challenges, higher education deficits, or some limitations involving your thoughts and beliefs. It is now of critical importance that you take control of your life and your future by taking the practical kinds of actions needed to actualize your dreams. There is no substitute for consistency, careful planning, follow up, and hard work. Now is not the time to drop the ball. You’re at least more than half way there.
