New Horoscopes for the Week of Oct. 30th – Nov. 5th

(Mosaic Artist – Carol Shelkin)

ARIES (March 21-April 21)
This week the Sun continues to energize and facilitates financial partnerships, the initiation of financial partnerships, intimacy, and deep personal transformations. Despite past (professional) experience – possibly involving betrayals, power imbalances, financial hardship, and maybe a subsequent struggle for survival – now may be the time when you can establish something more balanced and personally satisfying. Taking more risk may be possible as the Venus/Chiron trine works to support the healing of old (professional) wounds. A business partnership may be considered. You may be inspired to reform standard business practices along the lines of something more humane, compassionate, and kind. Intimate relationships are more easily brought into deeper, more satisfying levels. Mercury’s retrograde phase for Aries may be centered around a reconsideration what ignites your passion – and what doesn’t.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21)
The relationship sector of your life remains highly energized this week. Communication within the realm of relationships is intense, transformative, and maybe very beautiful – somewhat poetic. Relationships may be all-consuming. Your sense of identity as a couple may be a source of pride. But there’s the freedom-loving, unpredictable side of you that may need to adjust. On Friday Venus enters the sign of Sagittarius and some of the pressure is lifted. Mercury retrogrades through your 7th house causing you to rethink how and what you communicate to a partner, the nature of your relationship in general, and what you want or need your role to be. As Venus transits into the 8th house old beliefs about freedom, intimacy, financial partnerships, optimism, and hope are deepened and transformed. Throwing your lot in with another is challenging and revealing.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
Mercury, your ruling planet, is set to move into it’s retrograde phase from Oct. 31st – Nov. 20th. This may be a time when the pace of your work or forward advancement slows. Your focus may intensify though. Thoughts about the nature of your work, your current trajectory, and the meaningfulness of it deepen. Some reconsideration may be necessary. A course correction or reversal may be in play. Service providers may need to reconsider the nature of what that actually entails. Physically it seems wise to cut back. Now you may be especially susceptible to the healing effects of poetry, art, dark or ancient beauty, and the natural world. Keeping it simple, kind, and aligned with the big picture seems important. Mars in Libra continues to challenge what’s deeply ingrained and in need of transformation. Love (and pride) challenge you to control and eliminate deeply ingrained financial/betrayal fears.

CANCER (June 21-July 21)
Current relationships continue to be challenged by relationships from the past. Black Moon Lilith throws her hat into the ring this week creating the kind of disruption that could begin to dismantle the brick wall you may be up against. Because you know how to navigate through something harsh and maybe unfeeling doesn’t mean you should continue to test your strength in that regard. It’s an outdated game. Most likely you have nothing left to prove in this regard. Venus’s move into Sagittarius is significant. More hope and optimism is readily available – a way to set yourself free, to expand, to explore, to be more adventurous. This may involve new opportunities and support presented within the work place. As Mercury retrogrades you’re encouraged to rethink the depth of your love, what and how you communicate, and the further development of your talents.

LEO (July 21-Aug 21)
Home, family, roots, and family relationships continue to be your focus. Something on the home front is highly energized. It looks complicated – but also potentially advantageous. Mercury’s impending move into retrograde motion impels you to reconsider something fairly profound involving safety, security, the meaning of home and family, your relationship to family members, and your relationship to your home. Your home reflects your emotional state. As you grow and change emotionally your home simultaneously becomes outdated and in need of change – sometimes a minor remodel, sometimes a major renovation, and sometimes it’s just time to relocate. Everything about your home and the past may be highly emotionally charged. But Venus’s move into Sagittarius on Nov. 1st lightens things up. You’re on the cusp of something that feels more hopeful, easier, and more fun. “Splitting the difference” in some regard seems to be a brilliant way around the (emotional) complications.

VIRGO (August 21-Sep 21)
Mercury’s move into retrograde motion from Oct 31-Nov 20 takes you into the deeper realms of your mind – a diving expedition where you have access to relevant information. For you this may be a hidden treasure. Reconsideration of past decisions and possible reversals may be related to an old cherished dream, identifying the thing that ignites your passion, or a skill/talent for organizing and leading a successful business venture. You may reconsider the commitments you’ve taken on and whether or not you want to continue abiding by those commitments. Freedom and independence feels important and potentially deeply satisfying. Between now and Nov. 20th you might find ways to detach from what’s no longer relevant. Something kind and protective within of social concerns may capture your imagination. It looks promising. As Venus moves into Sagittarius the desire to nurture, protect, defend, secure, and cultivate what you love intensifies. You may be on the cusp of flourishing in new ways.

LIBRA (September 21 – October 21)
Protecting and defending your independence, your physical body, your right to be effective and to make an impact through connecting with your instincts, and your “unique” presentation of yourself to the world, seems essential. Playing a more courageous role within the realm of relationships may be especially important. Fortunately the current Venus/Chiron trine is healing old wounds incurred within the realm of relationships. This trine supports a more confident, courageous, role. Mars continues to challenge an old, inherited, deeply ingrained way of being. As Venus moves into your 3rd house your mind expands beyond what you’ve previously assumed was possible. Opportunities and ideas flow. Your mind ignites with adventurous imaginings. You may need to travel – or at least travel to distant places in your mind. This is a very creative, uplifting influence. Mercury’s retrograde phase encourages you to rethink financial realities, ways of making a living, values, and priorities.

SCORPIO (October 21 – November 21)
Within the realm of relationships, you may be playing to your strengths or your most authentic role to date. As a force for transformational change and deeper levels of intimacy, something freeing and challenging has opened up. You may be getting lots of practice being who you essentially are. It may be destabilizing in ways that ultimately benefit you. Vesta, the asteroid of passion, essentially keeps you alive and enthusiastically engaged. In aspect to Pluto and Black Moon Lilith you may be blindsided by the degree of disruption and mental adjustments in perspective that need to be made. But an old way of being continues to be disrupted and undermined – especially when it comes to love, pride, creative freedom, and your sense of self worth. This week Venus’s move into your 2nd house enhances your sense of self-worth – effortlessly. Mercury’s retrograde phase has you rethinking marriage and future commitments.

SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 21)
A Jupiter/Ceres emphasis moves you into the realm of the underworld with themes related to Persephone, the abduction of her child, and the eventual compromise that ultimately allowed the world to survive. Emotionally you may be mulling over a compromise – an agreement to have half of what you want as opposed to all of it, which may not even seem possible. Sagittarius wants it all but can “go with the flow” if the compromise seems reciprocal. Fortunately Venus moves into your 1st house this week. Compromise may actually seem more doable. A new, more expansive beginning in love is indicated. And a more upbeat, optimistic relationship role for you seems likely. There may also be some relief from underlying financial pressures. But Mercury’s move into retrograde motion may be cause for you to reconsider something related to your health, your work, strategies for improvement, and/or daily routines. The (unconscious) need to control everything could be making you less effective than you might otherwise be.

CAPRICORN (December 21-January 21)
There is room for you to move away from an old assumption about your solitary, hard-working, conservative, heavily burdened, “serious as a heat attack” self. That’s not really the authentic you. It’s a role you might have grown into – maybe the result of expectations forced upon you. The real you is ruled by Venus – the lover, the gift giver, the natural man or woman, the relaxed, unhurried, unworried, deeply satisfied, beautiful, fortunate one. What you contribute is stability and comfort to those who are unable to feel deeply satisfied or to know that things will actually be ok. This week Venus moves into the sign of Sagittarius. It’s a perfect time to let go of a role that is inauthentic. and for you to feel yourself to be more of who you actually are. Mercury’s move into retrograde motion gives you time to review what kind of partner, audience, client, friend or social situation that encourages you to be more of who you are. For most it’s time to put on a costume and pretend to be something other than who they are. For you it seems the opposite.

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 21)
Aquarians sense they’re moving in the direction of an end-point. It’s not here yet, but it’s steadily progressing. The balls you used to be able to keep in the air are dropping – one by one. Lots of little endings are invisible or escape notice. But it can feel both unnerving and a relief. It can feel like you’re losing your grip and being released from old burdens and pressures. This ending phase won’t end until November of 2020. In the meantime you may losing your interest in the work that you do or service you provide. An old motivational force seems to be waning. The status of your health might reflect the ongoing progressive dissolution – for better or worse. Being kinder to yourself may feel foreign and irrelevant but it seems important now. Mercury’s move into retrograde motion from Oct 31st – Nov 20th could have you rethinking your public role, your life direction, or career. Some kind of unsettling, significant change could feel right. Waiting until Nov. 20th to make important decisions seems wise.
pisces otherworldly
PISCES (February 21-March 21)
Venus’s move into Sagittarius brings opportunities for expansion within the realm of your professional life. International travel, publishing, higher education, and the legal field present promising developments. It is possible you will be recognized as a leader in your field and rewarded. At the same time it seems that you may need to compromise. A promotion may be associated with the need to move on from a place you love – or away from departments and people you’ve developed close bonds with. Maybe you’ll need to work overtime to get up to speed in a new position. A job-sharing opportunity would fit with this week’s planetary symbolism. As to your future in general there will be some deeper reconsideration as Mercury turns retrograde from Oct. 31st – Nov. 20th. You may be ready for a change. But it seems wise not to make any long term commitments until the impending retrograde phase is complete.
