Victoria Cross to be auctioned

PRESS ASSOCIATION Photo. Issue date: Friday March 26, 2010. Queen Victoria presented the medal to Sergeant John Simpson Knox in June 1857 for his heroism in the Crimean War. He received the honour after repelling Russian soldiers at the Battle of Alma in September 1854.
The medal, the highest British honour for bravery in battle, is being sold alongside a cannonball which ripped off one of Sgt Knox’s arms in the Battle of Sebastopol in June 1855.
